About the Position: Serves as a working leader of Ammunition Handlers in the Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) for the United States Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center.
Duties
Relay work instructions from the supervisor to employees, demonstrate proper work methods, verify work progress, and brief supervisor on the status of operations.
Issue, receive, verify, sort, classify, and transport ammunition and explosive items and complete all required documentation.
Maintain proper storage of ammunition and regularly accomplish re-warehouse operations to maximize space availability.
Inspect, pack and/or repack ammunition and apply condition codes and required markings.
Accomplish ammunition inventories to verify the general condition, quantity, and location of stocked ammunition and complete required documentation.
Operate electric and diesel driven forklifts to load, unload and transport munitions.
Requirements
- Pre-employment and annual physicals are required.
- Position requires a Secret Security Clearance be obtained and maintained.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is subject to tour of duty to cover seven-day operation.
- Position will require occasional evening and/or holiday hours, to include mandatory overtime as mission dictates.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain installation forklift training certification and license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain ammunition certification in accordance with Army Materiel Command (AMC) Regulation 350-4.
- Must successfully clear local screening check on Dept of the Army Form 7281, Command Oriented Arms, Ammunition and Explosives Security Screening and Evaluation Record, IAW Army Regulation 190-11, Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives
- In accordance with AR 600-85, this is a Testing Designated Position. As such, incumbent is subject to random drug testing and drug testing when there is a reasonable suspicion that the incumbent uses illegal drugs.
- Position is covered by the 1998 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise of an Ammunition Handler Leader~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common Ammunition Handler Leader duties. I can provide instructions to workers; answer worker questions; and receive, inspect, and store ammunition and explosive items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Stands, stoops, bends. and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for longer periods. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 70 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 70 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in generating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside but primarily in igloos/magazines, that are unheated, with concrete floors. Subject to extreme caution due to the nature of items involved and must at all times adhere to fire, safety, and security regulations within assigned areas. Work requires handling hazardous materials, subject to exposure to explosive hazards and chemical fumes. Work requires wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses and aprons.
