Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: SB/SE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER EXAM, SPECIALTY EXAMINATION, BSA EXAMINATION
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.
Researches and identifies complex issues and technological advancements that impact the financial community.
Formulates policy guidance and recommendations for revisions and/or improvements to BSA/anti-money laundering measures.
Interprets the substance of current and new regulations, policy guidance, advisories and administrative rulings.
Provides written and oral interpretive guidance and expertise to the financial community, including banking associations, industry and trade groups, and law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes: Experience in legal, tax accounting, or other experience that required knowledge of Federal tax laws, regulations, precedent decisions, or other areas related to the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying experience includes: Preparing, reviewing, or applying rulings, advisory letters, memoranda, etc. related to Federal taxation. Analyzing and adjudicating tax claims, appeals, settlement offers, or similar work related to Federal tax operations. Work as an attorney that required legal research, analysis, and preparation of briefs or similar documents interpreting laws and regulations. Work as an accountant, auditor, or investigator that required application of Federal tax accounting principles and/or the Internal Revenue Code and related laws. And serves as a Technical Advisor to the field on penalty guidance and gives instruction to less experienced examiners. Responds to inquiries from taxpayers and revenue agents.
OR
LL.M. degree with specialization in Taxation
OR
A combination of qualifying graduate education and experience as described above.
