About the Position: Serves as a Protocol Specialist (Conference and Special Events) in the Office of the Victory (V) Corps, Chief of Staff, Protocol Directorate, facilitating the development and management of conferences and special events.
This is a TERM appointment. It is time- limited and may be extended beyond 6 years, up to 8 years. This position may be non- competitively converted to career conditional or career appointments under specific conditions.
Duties
Perform long range planning in order to develop a comprehensive conference schedule and cal
Produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphic presentations, spreadsheets or databases.
Manage official conferences and special events for the V Corps Command Group
Facilitate after action reviews to determine and analyze quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the conference.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- Must be able to work extended and/or other than normal duty hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and
overtime to the extent determined by the supervisor.
- Must be able perform a Temporary Change of Station (TCS) for not less than 6 months, but no more than 30 months.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Forces Certificate of License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver’s license to operate non-tactical vehicle/transportation motor pool
(NTV/TMP) vehicles such as a sedan or small passenger van.
- Must be able to work under austere living conditions, as well as share accommodation under field conditions (containers, tents
and/or barracks).
- Must be able to perform business related travel up to 60% of the time.
- Must be able to receive inoculations in accordance with Department of Defense requirements for travel to specific countries.
- Must be able to travel using military transportation or non-commercial means of travel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes plan protocol and social functions in honor of senior-ranking government, military, and/or industry leaders, diplomats, foreign military representatives, and distinguished foreign dignitaries; provide recommendations and assist in the establishment of an effective protocol policy; conduct formal and informal briefings; communicate (oral and written) with senior level leaders and staff within an organization and with external customers in order to provide information and guidance.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
