You will serve as an Assured Command and Control Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Subject Matter Expert in the Pacific Fleet Navy Communications Systems and Coordination Center.

Duties

You will serve as a technical subject matter expert for protected satellite communications (SATCOM) with a primary emphasis on deployed maritime forces in support of a joint task forces conducting real-world operations and exercises. You will provide protected communications planning support to the Combatant Command (COCOM), Theater Joint Force Maritime Combatant Command (TJFMCC), service components, supporting commands and numbered fleets. You will provide estimates of SATCOM supportability to proposed courses of action in support of Maritime and Joint Operations. You will plan, coordinate, and direct changes to SATCOM missions based on operational planning and mission tasking. You will provide monthly assessments our fleet’s readiness as it relates protected satellite communications (SATCOM) capabilities. You will be required to use effective writing and speaking skills sufficient to be persuasive in advocating for improvement to new systems or implementation of new technologies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing, investigating, and translating operational requirements into execution using knowledge of telecommunications and satellite systems and applying communications system technology to the fleet with ability to develop plans, policies, procedures for current and future telecommunication systems.
