Duties
Serves as the point of contact for all activity’s administrative and support functions; functions as command secretary.
Conducts studies, analyzes findings, and recommends solutions on various operational and administrative practices and procedures, reports, and correspondence.
Compiles and inputs data into a variety of office automation databases to produce decision-making reports and statistics that directly impact the goals and objectives of the organization.
Performs customer support and liaison duties and provides assistance in areas of personnel management, time and attendance, training, work distribution, quality assurance, and activity/service provider/depot operations and procedures.
Prepares and drafts a variety of correspondence (i.e., travel orders, training requests, briefings, statistical data, reports, etc.) to ensure appropriateness of content to correspondence guidelines.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) or competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-7 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Compiling statistics from data requiring substantial analysis and interpretation;
Gathering, consolidating, and converting data into comprehensive formats for correspondence or presentations;
Making travel arrangements and preparing travel orders/vouchers for personnel.
B. Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above the GS-5 level for this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
C. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
