This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Police Operations Division. As a Supervisory Police Officer (Lt), you will report to the Deputy Inspector and in the absence of a Deputy Inspector the incumbent will report to the Inspector or the Chief of Police. Ensure the assigned unit/shift or branch is operated in a cost effective and efficient manner, providing uninterrupted protection and security for BEP's employees, visitors, products, and property.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (LIEUTENANT), you will:
Complete, reviews, and/or electronically file logs, forms and reports that must be completed as a standard part of the job for the assigned work unit. Write letters, memos, and reports involving a significant degree of narrative information. Ensure all documents, including those submitted by subordinates are complete, accurate, and submitted in compliance with BEP Police policies and procedures.
Manages the daily activities of each member of the work unit. Properly accounts for overtime and leave on the shift. Monitors progress and evaluates the work unit and directly supervises and evaluates Sergeants and subordinate staff. Coaches, counsels, and motivates subordinate staff to meet BEP Police performance standards.
Coordinates, conducts or supervises investigations involving alleged infractions/violations or complaints, as well as initiating corrective/disciplinary actions.
Evaluates a major incident and develops a strategic operational plan to mitigate the incident.

The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature. Specialized Experience: For the TR-10, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Leading or supervising while performing law enforcement work in the preservation of the peace; AND
Administering and providing pertinent training to law enforcement personnel; AND
Experience assisting with internal and external rules, regulations, and directives, police manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA).
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the TR-10, you must have been at the TR-9/ GS-9level for 52 weeks.
