This position serves as a Litigation Support Specialist located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), National Security Division (NSD), Executive Office (EO), Information Technology Management (ITM) Staff, Litigation Technology Support Services (LTSS) Team in Washington DC. The mission of the NSD is to coordinate the Department's efforts in carrying out its core mission of combatting terrorism and protecting national security.

The primary purpose of this position of this position is to provide electronic litigative technology support for NSD cases and national security related matters. The duties and responsibilities for a Litigation Support Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Identify and collect necessary data including legislative, legal, and program data and interviews with senior management, program officials, employees, and supervisors; assemble and assess information gathered; formulate findings, conclusions, and recommendations; present results in written and/or oral form, which are well-organized, supportable, and clearly expressed. Perform data analytics and loading of imaged and e-docs data into electronic litigation applications. Trouble shoot, administer, and maintain electronic litigation databases, audio-video editing suites, and other technology tools used in the analysis, processing, and production of complex electronically stored information. Serve as litigation case management expert and apply and adapt concepts, methods, and procedures to carry out project development and documentation activities. Provide guidance that requires extensive interpretation for many different and unrelated program processes and methods, such as interpretations of original legislative or judicial intent and advice on revisions to existing policies, programs, and technological resources to meet requirements. Implement electronic litigation technology solutions for electronically stored information in order to improve overall litigation support for the Division. Provide oversight to ensure that the current electronic litigation needs of the Division are met and that the long-term needs are accounted for and coordinated with the Executive Office in planning sessions. Participate in planning to advise managers on the ways in which new or revised litigation technology, legal precedent, policy, or change in electronic evidence advancements or equipment will facilitate the work of the organization.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Litigation Support Specialist at (GS-0301-14), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). To Qualify for the Litigation Support Specialist GS-0301-14, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing program planning and management for eLitigation software applications in support of investigative scenarios.
