You will serve as a Electrician Leader in the Temporary Services Shop, Production Resources Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will relay supervisor's instructions to both nuclear and non-nuclear electricians in assigned work group. You will set the pace and instruct employees on proper work procedures, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shipboard electrical systems. You will read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. You will verify work is done in accordance with accepted procedures and/or instructions. You will give appropriate skills training utilizing shop training tools such as mock ups, in shop work areas or facilities, and on deck-plates.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Direct crew members in the proper setting up of the shops' involvement in boat arrivals, boat dry docking requirements, undocking, and berthing requirements. Verify work progress and ensure that the proper protective equipment is being used and safety practices are being followed by crew members. Ensures crew members follow the work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Sees that the necessary material, tools, blueprints, and any software and equipment is furnished and available to crew members to perform the work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders.
