About the Position: You will serve as Assistant Foreman over the Water Operations Unit, exercising full supervisory responsibility for control over work operations. This job is also advertised under Announcement Number CERD249669346905 (Temporary Appointment) open to current Army civilian employees.

Duties

Maintain knowledge of water treatment equipment assembly to support operational patency. Operate water treatment plant equipment according to established Federal, state, Department of Defense, Army and/or local regulations, procedures, and instructions. Resolve accuracy of online monitoring equipment by comparing instrumentation readings to laboratory bench readings. Ensure effective and efficient water treatment practices pertinent to permit compliance and regulations. Analyze operational data to ensure the proper quality and quantity of potable water.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess an Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) Water Treatment Operator Class IV Certification.
  • This position is required to work rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations and be on call in emergency and mission critical situations.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Must obtain and maintain a confined space proficiency certification within 12 months of employment and perform confined space entry.
  • Required to complete a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. And in an "on call" status.
  • This position has been designated as “Key” and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform. Protective clothing and gear are required when working around chemicals.
  • A one-year supervisory probation period may be required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Water Treatment Plant Operator Supervisor (Time-Limited Assignment) to include the ability to lead or supervise. Abilities include (1) Planning work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates; (2) Explaining work requirements, methods, and procedures; (3) Measuring and introducing chemicals into the water system; (4) Controlling water treatment processes to ensure proper water quality; and (5) Conducting water quality test to verify water quality is kept within established limits. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
