Duties

After successful completion of the program requirements, individuals, at the agency's discretion, MAY BE converted to a term or career appointment, without further competition. However, there is no guarantee. This internship may be expected to continue through the fall and Spring semester. EXIM is seeking students in various administrative and junior professional positions under the Pathway's Internship Program. The program is designed to integrate the student's educational studies with a wide range of clerical, administrative, and professional experiences that support the mission of EXIM. Whether you have a passion for acquiring or enhancing your administrative skills,or working in a more technical area such as loan specialist or business development, EXIM has an internship for you. The Ethics Office of the Export-Import Bank of the United States seeks dedicated and enthusiastic rising law students to serve as part-time law clerks. The Ethics legal internship offers a unique opportunity for a law student to learn the practice of law in a federal government corporation setting. The Ethics Office is comprised of the Structured and Project Finance; Transportation; Trade Finance, Small Business, and Insurance; Litigation, Fraud, and Compliance; and Administrative Law practice groups. Students currently enrolled in an accredited law school are preferred. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • MUST be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the current/upcoming semesters for the duration of the internship
  • Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Sign a Pathway's Internship Program agreement and adhere to program requirements.
  • Provide official documentation of enrollment status when requested
  • If you are graduating at the end of the semester and do not plan to continue your education, you are not eligible for the position

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements: To apply for a Pathways Internship position, candidates must be: A U.S. Citizen Currently enrolled, on at least a half-time basis, in an accredited college/university (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. In good academic standing, maintaining a G.P.A of 2.5 or higher If you are graduating at the end of the semester, you are not eligible for the position. Work Schedule Requirements: You must be able to work at least 24 hours per week during the academic year and full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer. This position is eligible for remote and/or hybrid work schedule during the school year. This position is required to work a hybrid work schedule during the summer, reporting to the office 2 days a week. If selected, you: must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement; must maintain status as a current student; must maintain good academic standing, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale. must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term (if extended); and must provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic term (if extended). To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the education requirements for each grade which you are requesting consideration for: GS-09: Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. ****NOTE: One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours***** Students in an accredited post-secondary school must provide a copy of their transcripts which shows the list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade point average or class ranking. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable to be considered, but official transcripts are required prior to appointment. ****NOTE: You must submit proof of your education at the time of application in order to receive consideration.***** Foreign Education: If you are qualifying by education and/or you have education completed in a foreign college/university described above, it is your responsibility to provide transcripts and proof of U.S. accreditation for foreign study. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week. All requirements must be met by 04/29/2024, the closing date of the announcement.
