This position is located at Office of Government Ethics, General Counsel and Legal Policy. As a Student Trainee (Legal)(Legal Intern), you will support OGE's work of establishing and maintaining a uniform legal framework of Government ethics for executive branch employees.

Qualifications

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé. To qualify for the grade GS-09 level, you must meet the following requirement by the closing date of this announcement: A. Education: In the Internship Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows: Master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position, or 2 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.

Education

You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment. The definition of a student is: an individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93-842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable with your application. However, if selected for the position, you will be required to submit your official transcript. Please note your unofficial transcripts must be recent (within last six months), show your cumulative GPA, and indicate the courses you are currently enrolled in.


The definition of a qualifying educational institution for this announcement is as follows:
