This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Public Service Division. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will perform a variety of public affairs activities and oversee outreach and educational activities associated with the Bureau tour program and visitor center activities.

Duties

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will: Develop and coordinate a wide range of special events, ceremonies, media briefings and meetings with private sector groups, and other government agencies to develop interest in the Bureau's tour and visitor center activities. Perform studies and/or analysis aimed at substantial improvements, cost savings, customer needs assessments and overall management effectiveness, all of which are conducted in a relatively short period of time. Develop and execute communication plans by considering such items as the most effective media to use in communicating with target audiences, the appropriate messages for target audiences, and other considerations for effective communication to positively affect target group behavior. Prepare and create educational/informational materials for dissemination to internal and external audiences. Coordinate and oversee all public relations, staging and fiscal responsibilities as they relate to the coordination of special and public program activities as agreed to with the Division Manager and Office Chief.

Requirements

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience: Assisting with the planning and coordination of special events or tours; AND Assisting in the creation of information or content for dissemination to the public; AND Assisting in the monitoring of employee service contracts or agreements to ensure compliance. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
