Duties
Exercises the full range of administrative and technical supervision for a supporting staff. Performs overall work planning, establishes work schedules and priorities, and assigns and reviews work.
Design and implement applied ecological resource management activities to manage structure, function, composition, status or trends in barrier island communities and related ecosystems.
Expresses ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively, makes clear and convincing oral presentations, listens to others, facilitates an open exchange of ideas.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships among all personnel to plan projects, coordinate work, solve technical problems and protect rescouces.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position, you must possess one of the minimum qualifications of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in one of the following: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement OR a combination of education and experience. Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation.
In addition to meeting the minimum education requirement of the position you must also possess the following:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) Developing resources and planning management requirements and guidelines so that plans result in programs that provide adequate long-term protection for resources which may include, but is not limited to, vegetation, wildlife, sensitive species, exotic and pest species, fisheries, air and water quality, soils, geology, hydrology, paleontology, other physical sciences, and range management. (2) Applying applicable laws, regulations and policies related to the protection of natural resources and NPS regulations, policies, and guidelines regarding the management and monitoring of natural resources. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
