This position is located in Refugee, Asylum and International Operations, Asylum Division, New Orleans Asylum Office.
As a Mission Support Specialist, you will provide technical, administrative, and operational support to leadership and staff, work across organizational lines, and effectively and efficiently carry out the goals and mission of the Agency.
Duties
The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
Serves as a Mission Support Specialist in a variety of administrative areas to include Human Resources, Facilities, Property Management, Travel, Time and Attendance, Recruitment and Staffing
Develops, implements, interprets, and advises on administrative policies to improve efficiencies.
Exercises flexibility and organizational awareness, and works across directorate lines to successfully carryout Refugee, Asylum and International Operations' mission.
Researches and analyzes complex administrative projects and makes sound recommendations supported by comprehensive reports, findings, or briefings utilizing various databases.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 04/25/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 04/25/2024.
GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Assisting in the administration of a program related to emergency management, facilities management, security, property management, records, or human resources;
Representing the office with contacts such as vendors and internal offices within the agency that have primary responsibility for procurement, financial, and/or administrative related services;
Preparing and deliver studies, reports, and briefings to managers. OR
You may substitute successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or at least two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field related to the work of this position.
GS-11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Assisting in the preparation of implementation of administrative policies, procedures, and management processes;
Conducting research on administrative projects and provides recommendation to leadership;
Applying new legislation, regulations, policies to various administrative programs effectively. OR
You may substitute successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field related to the work of this position.
GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Initiating and drafting operational transactions, correspondences, policy memos consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and labor agreement;
Serving as liaison on a complex program requiring research and coordination;
Analyzing various administrative programs and provide recommendations for improvement
