Duties

As a Laboratory Quality Control Specialist, you will: Provide advice to functions performing biological or other scientific assessments within a CIO, and/or CDC/ATSDR concerning compliance with quality management systems, programs, regulatory guidelines, and standards. Conduct quality reviews according to procedural criteria established in quality review plans for determining adherence to standards outlined for clinical laboratory practices. Ensure quality policies, processes and procedures are implemented. Coordinate and communicate laboratory monitoring program and laboratory quality systems/controls with CIO managers.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Basic Qualifications: have on I have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) at the time the degree was obtained. or Have a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level, which must include the following experience implementing quality management systems, regulatory guidelines and other quality standards within an infectious disease laboratory. or Have completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education OR possess a PhD or equivalent graduate degree in a field that is directly related to the duties of this position. or Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
