The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an acquisition program manager responsible for developing, establishing, implementing, and controlling contractual, financial, and technical aspects of a project/program through designated phases of the acquisition cycle for which no closely related precedents exist.
Duties
Leads, manages, directs or is responsible for activities in support of DoD funded acquisition efforts.
Directs and coordinates the collective efforts of a multi-disciplined staff of military, civilian, and/or contractors assigned to a program.
Delivers presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems/analysis/solutions, requirements for support and promotion of program objectives to senior military officers and civilians in other program offices, or the command and with using supporting commands.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other coordinating members, offices, or organizations within the AF or DoD arena and/or with outside organizations or companies.
Works in conjunction with the contracting officer to approve terms and conditions set forth in contract negotiations, contracting plans, budgets, and changes to the scope of work to be done by the contractor.

- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
- The selectee must meet, or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment
- This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
- The employee must, within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 Oct annually, thereafter, file an OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report. Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of laws, principles, policies, and practices of systems acquisition and program management.
2. Knowledge of business, industrial management, contracting procedures, technical concepts, and production practices to evaluate contractor proposals and activities.
3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the Department of Defense, Air Force, and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
5. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work unit.
6. Ability to plan, organize, lead, and manage critical aspects of research, development, production, and support of subsystems or equipment, and integrate, analyze, and manage a variety of acquisition functions and personnel in support of the process.
