About the Position: The incumbent reports to the Chief of Training, Readiness and Exercises (TREX). Assists with a wide range of tasks that include preparing training guidance, planning training for Expeditionary Sustainment Commands and Sustainment Brigades and facilitating command inspections to ensure the readiness of units operating within the US Army Central Command area of responsibility. Work is performed with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, G3 located in Fort Knox, KY.

Duties

Conduct research and analysis of unit readiness status. Evaluate the status of units scheduled to mobilize, deploy, fight and sustain the force in support of worldwide contingencies. Prepare detailed reports and documents for unit readiness. Ensure command-wide implementation of JCS Publication 1.03-3, Army Regulation 220-1, FORSCOM Supplement 1 to Army Regulation 220-1, and other directives pertaining to Unit Status Reporting. Individual will coordinate directly with First Army, Mission Command Training Program and Combined Arms Support Command to set up, prepare and synchronize training with subordinate units.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position required the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 50% of the time.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • The incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift end.
  • This position is subject to a pre-deployment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work planned and/or unplanned overtime
  • Pre deployment Physical examination is required for this position.
  • This incumbent for this position may be required to work various shifts or be in an on-call status during adverse weather, contingency or emergency operations.

Assist with inspections of the organization to determine the state of readiness, or if training will be needed to achieve readiness.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Operations. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ResearchTechnical CompetenceWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
