Duties

he position is assigned to the Health Safety and Work-life Service Center, Medical Administration Division, detached duty Norfolk, VA. Incumbent serves as the Senior Health System Analyst for the Division. Assists the Division Chief in the day-to-day administration of mandated program impact studies, analyses, audits, the running and deployment of healthcare information technology systems that impact the delivery of health care services to support Coast Guard operational missions world-wide.

  • This position may require a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. or Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: Experience developing/providing training to others. Reviewing and processing incoming applications. Applying laws, regulations and organizational policies (CFRs, COMDINST, and SOPs) to their work. Reviewing documents for completeness in accordance with their work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
