You will serve as a Systems Engineer in the Air Platform Systems Engineering Division of the Systems Engineering Department in the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at Patuxent River, MD. You will be an Assistant Program Manager Systems Engineer for PMA-201 Advanced System Long Range Fires responsible for all technical efforts of air vehicle production.

Duties

You will formulate engineering design concepts and performance requirements which provide the basis for overall technical and engineering planning for assigned aircraft system. You will be working in the definition, acquisition, development and production of air vehicle technical innovations, upgrades and new technological introductions. You will act as management representative for assigned systems at program reviews, contract reviews, briefings, budget hearing, etc. You will develop or direct development of contract engineering specifications which define system requirements and parameters. You will establish and maintain contact with engineering personnel and high-level officials. You will perform or direct technical analyses required during the development phases. You will work in the definition, acquisition, development, and production of air vehicle technical innovations, upgrades, and new technological introductions.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band (DP-04) or grade level (GS-12/13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Providing authoritative input and advice on all engineering and technical issues and ensures engineering requirements are met; 2) Developing project-planning objectives for engineering development of current and long range programs; 3) Performing or directing technical analyses required during the development phase; 4) Assisting in the preparation, planning and development of integrated logistics support plans for assigned systems; 5) Establishing and maintaining contact with engineering personnel and high-level officials in support agency mission and program requirements; and 6) Performing technical reviews to ensure adequate resources for assigned weapons systems. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
