Duties

Perform a variety of administrative, office automation and clerical assignments in support of the organization. Prepare travel orders, travel advances, amendments and vouchers from verbal or brief written notes. Establish and maintain office files/records and file various documents (e.g., reports, and general correspondence). Receive, read, date, sort, and determine routing of incoming mail. Read and interpret applicable instructional materials and standard operating procedures (SOP's) pertaining to administrative practices and filing procedures, (e.g., mail procedures, file maintenance, etc.) Read and interpret applicable instructional materials and standard operating procedures (SOP's) pertaining to administrative practices and filing procedures, (e.g., mail procedures, file maintenance, etc.) Retrieve, read and print data/messages from automated information and communication systems (e.g., E-Mail), and provide copy to supervisor and/or individuals concerned. Maintain time and attendance data, to include timesheets, requested leave forms, and supplemental documentation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining records or files, using computer software to produce correspondence and other documents, receiving and sorting incoming/outgoing mail, and/or preparing financial documents (i.e. purchase requests, travel orders, advances, etc.). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a qualified typist (Ability to type at least 40 words per minute). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCommunicationsComputer Skills Time in Grade Requirement: There are no time-in-grade requirements to the GS-05 level.
