About the Position: Serves as the waivers technician at the Recruiting Battalion (BN) Headquarters (HQ), S-3. Incumbent is responsible for both waiver requests and Future Soldier Training Program (FSTP) separations. Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that required documentation for requests complies with appropriate governing regulations.

Duties

Monitor the Future Soldier Training Program (FSTP) to detect trends in recruiting practices that tend to increase discharge requests. Process waiver request on behalf of Company Commanders and Field Recruiters. Serves as the final clerical reviewer for discharges submitted to the Battalion Commander. Process military discharge request on behalf of the assigned Battalion. Maintain waivers and Future Soldier Training Program (FSTP) data in accordance with established organizational procedures. Utilize Army directives to determine suitability of army medical waivers.

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. For Current Federal Employees Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves: (1) utilizing an established automated system to process actions (i.e. medical waivers); (2) preparing correspondence in accordance with established policies and procedures; (3) utilizing established guidelines to assure the accuracy of documents; (4) reviewing personnel documents for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). For All Others Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves: Non-Federal at GS-6 Level Experience:(1) processing actions utilizing automated systems (i.e., medical waivers) on behalf of assigned organization; (2) preparing reports regarding personnel actions; (3) analyzing personnel documents to make recommendations and determine eligibility; (4) reviewing documents to assure they are in accordance with established guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources. (NOTE: You must upload a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
