ADD SUMMARY STATEMENT This position is part of the Plant Operations,Government Publishing Office inWashington , District of Columbia.

Duties

Communicate effectively with persons of different levels and backgrounds. Provides oversight of industrial machinery and equipment that regulates High Voltage Electricity and HVAC systems in the agency. Counsel employees regarding ways to improve marginal performance. Ensure work meets or exceeds the quality level required. Ensures critical systems are properly maintained in Facility Division by establishing critical system maintenance plans for the Power Branch.

Requirements

  • You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Suitability Nonsensitive Low Risk Security clearance.
  • Working Conditions: Incumbent will be required to perform work in an environment where there is exposure to noise, ink mist, odors/fumes, spray powder and dust from machinery and maintenance repair areas.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Strength test may be required.
  • Selectees must successfully pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
  • Physical Effort - Work is sometimes sedentary but prolonge4d walking or standing may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Facilities Craft Supervisor. Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element Job Element # 73 to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out/Job Element # 73 : Ability to Lead or Supervise (SCREEN-OUT) to be considered eligible for this position. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Job Element # 73---Ability to Lead or Supervise (SCREEN OUT). These duties require skill in: - Providing oversight of repair and service of systems and equipment that regulates High Voltage Electricity and HVAC systems in the agency; - assigning work, coordinating and monitoring workload and training; and maintaining financial expenditures in accordance with established management priorities; - monitoring, safeguarding, and responding to emergency situations to protect life, health, and safety of all personnel and equipment assigned to or visiting GPO facilities; - using and maintaining accurate written reports; You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: In addition to the above Screenout Element 73 the following is required: JOB ELEMENTS: Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements: Job Element #75B Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprinting reading) Job Element #25-E Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Job Element 2-E Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. In addition to the requirements above: GPO employees competing under merit promotion procedures must meet all of the following criteria in accordance with Federal Merit Promotion Plan, GPO Instruction 615.2C (Appendix B): 1. Have completed a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or possess substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacancy; AND 2. Have at least 1 year of journeyperson experience subsequent to completion of the above apprenticeship or training; AND 3. Have served a minimum of 1 year in Career or Career-Conditional appointment in the GPO.(add supervisory statement from MP Plan). 4. Have served at least 1 year in an administrative or supervisory capacity. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
