Duties
Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is: To function as the base Formal Training Manager and performs technical, specialized work in support of Total Force education and training functions.
Duties:
Develops and maintains the formal training program with professional and technical skills, knowledge, and abilities to meet enterprise needs.
Provides support in verifying, maintaining, and updating promotion eligibility status, education and development levels, and training records in multiple office automation software and databases.
Performs routine and miscellaneous clerical work to include processing incoming mail, maintaining electronic files and posting updates as necessary and preparing/maintaining office forms of various types.
Assist in providing informational and academic advisement to military personnel of all ranks, their dependents, and/or civilian personnel pursuing undergraduate/graduate, vocational, technical and professional development opportunities at various levels.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes:1) knowledge of a body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of training programs to perform a variety of assignments involved in the development of academic training schedules for student classes; 2) knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the scheduling function; 3) knowledge of the training program mission and objectives to perform assignments and resolve a range of issues using accepted practices; 4) knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; 5) ability to use a variety of computer programs/software to enter, maintain, sort, retrieve information, and produce a variety of standardized documents.

EDUCATION: Applicants have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Note: you MUST submit a copy of your transcript(s).

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants have a combination of experience and education to qualify for the job announcement. Note: you MUST submit a copy of your transcript(s).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of training programs to perform assignments in the academic scheduling function.
2. Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources to determine quality, accuracy, and applicability.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; a qualified typist is not required.
4. Skill in applying basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve conflicts and determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the program.
5. Ability to use one or more established computer programs/software (Microsoft Office) to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
