This position is located at the Yuma Proving Ground Middle School/Teen Center. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. This is a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours and eligible for benefits. Duties

Responsible for the operation of the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Technology Lab in accordance with applicable regulations. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants. Creates a positive environment in CYS Technology Lab that includes appropriate materials and supplies to supplement computer software programs and Internet access. Provides supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants. Ensures computer, peripherals, and software are maintained in good condition and working order. Troubleshoots CYS hardware, printers, scanners, servers and software. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Promotes and role models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices. Trains children/youth in use of equipment and software programs. Ensures assigned area achieves and maintains standards for DoD/Army certification and national accreditation or Army equivalent. Responsible for the operation of the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Homework Center in accordance with applicable regulations. As part of the on ratio staff, provides assistance to participants in strengthening their academic and learning skills. Develops linkages with parents, School Liaison Officer, other CYS Program Associates and volunteer tutors to ensure homework center is fully integrated into all applicable program settings. Works with senior staff to provide instruction and training to lower-level employees on working in the homework center. Provides input to CYS training plan based on observed training needs. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children/youth.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Position requires working with computers, peripherals, software and common hand and electrical tools.
  • May be required to work irregular hours and weekends.
  • This position will have collateral duties as CYS Program Associate Homework Lab NF-03 required and will assist General Information Services Office (GISO).

Qualifications

1. Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written) 2. Be 18 years of age at time of employment. 3. Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. 4. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease. 5. Possess knowledge and demonstrated skill in Microsoft Windows and Applications using the Internet (email, searching, web page design) and network computing. 6. Possess a professional certificate or higher related to computer science/information technology, or 24 months of experience working in the related field.
