The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary Squadron Operations Supervisor (Ops Sup) Assistant for military flight operations and to serve as the Squadron Aviation Resource Management (SARM) Technician.

Duties

Executes the daily flying schedule in a high tempo environment managing deviations instantly and frequently. Prepares, maintains, and validates Flight Authorizations (FA). Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents. Operates, monitors, maintains and updates squadron level Aviation Resource Management System. Establishes, updates, and maintains office records of various types. Uses varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of extensive body of Aviation Resource Management (ARM) objectives, policies, technical rules, guidelines, instructions, regulations, policies and precedents to support ARM and flight pay and training requirements; initiating actions to execute aviation management policy and procedures; producing and monitoring weekly/monthly flying schedule; developing scheduling reports and maintaining scheduling databases; providing flight services. Knowledge of a wide range of computer/automated data processing techniques, requirements, methods, sources, procedures, system software/hardware and analytical and diagnostic methods. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of aviation resource management operations, infrastructure, databases, directives/instructions, laws, principles, programs, policies, and practices. 2. Knowledge of ARMS and databases and other aviation resource management systems and associated programs. 3. Knowledge of flight management principles and methods to include the flying hour management program. 4. Knowledge of records management systems and procedures, data management, data input, and maintaining accurate files. 5. Skill in interpreting and explaining the law and regulations relating to all facets of administering the incentive pay programs. 6. Ability to use computer equipment and various administrative software programs for office administration and understand the complexities and limitations of such. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
