You will serve as an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC TRAINING LEADER in the Industrial Execution Department, Production Trades Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform routine aircraft engine repairs using operating diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment and systems to aid in identifying aircraft related problems. You will interpret and use technical orders, specifications, manufacturers, catalogs and maintenance bulletins, conversion tables, and graphs. You will maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed. You will be responsible for indoctrinating new employees in safety and fire regulations, shop layout, and shop procedures.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE A) Have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks as an expert or have been consulted by other employees in difficult situations performing duties including keeping abreast of emerging technology developments within the field and be adept at utilizing new tools, test devices, and equipment associated with the trade; demonstrating proficiency in digital diagnostic equipment, on-board electronic systems, engine analysis software, specialized measuring devices, and automated storage and retrieval systems for current and historical performance data; proficient in using engine analysis software to evaluate engine performance parameters and troubleshoot engine malfunctions along with a thorough understanding of engine repair practices and testing procedures; competent in operating diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment; training new employees in safety and fire regulations, shop layout, and shop procedures; collaborating closely with the training office, engineering, safety, environmental, hazardous material, and quality assurance departments to fulfill the requirements outlined in this job description. B) Have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative including keeping abreast of emerging technology developments within the field and be adept at utilizing new tools, test devices, and equipment associated with the trade; demonstrating knowledge in digital diagnostic equipment, on-board electronic systems, engine analysis software, specialized measuring devices, and automated storage and retrieval systems for current and historical performance data; utilizing engine analysis software to evaluate engine performance parameters and troubleshoot engine malfunctions along with an understanding of engine repair practices and testing procedures; operating diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment; training new employees in safety and fire regulations, shop layout, and shop procedures. C) Have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including keeping abreast of emerging technology developments within the field and be adept at utilizing new tools, test devices, and equipment associated with the trade; familiarity with digital diagnostic equipment, on-board electronic systems, engine analysis software, specialized measuring devices, and automated storage and retrieval systems for current and historical performance data; using engine analysis software to evaluate engine performance parameters and troubleshoot engine malfunctions.
