This position is in Office of the Administrator, Office of Policy, National Center for Environmental Economics.  This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section. Qualifications

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement. In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as applying mathematical or statistical techniques, approaches, and/or methodologies to analyze data; and developing reports or presentations based on statistics or statistical analysis. To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as designing statistical studies and applying mathematical or statistical techniques, approaches, and/or methodologies to analyze data; and designing and developing reports or presentations based on statistics or statistical analysis. Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of mathematical statistics focusing on survey design and analysis; 2) Skill in interpreting statistical data; 3) Skill in written communication; 4) Skill in oral communication; 5) Ability to improve or develop statistical methodologies; 6) Ability to conduct and develop research projects; 7) Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.

Mathematical Statistician: You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics; OR a combination of education and experience that includes this education.

Statistician: You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
