This position is located in the Military Commissions Defense Organization (MCDO) at Arlington, VA. This position is in support of the MCDO, which is responsible for providing defense legal services to detainees being tried in military commissions. The incumbent serves as operations and litigation support specialist for the MCDO which requires knowledge of the principles, concepts, policies and objectives applicable to the MCDO.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: The incumbent oversees a variety of programs and functions to include team travel, operations, and logistical support for litigation teams in Arlington, VA and Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB). Controls and implements the organization's facilities program, including modification, maintenance, repair and minor construction. Handles, transports, processes, safeguards classified material at NSGB, including classified materials within the Expeditionary Legal Complex (ELC). Serves as an expert resource on travel regulations and procedures. Coordinates all aspects of travel, logistical support and training for worldwide travel for defense personnel. Establishes internal procedures to secure adequate control to meet critical deadlines, status reports and directives. Uses own initiative in developing procedures, which will increase the general flow of information and improve the administrative process. Provides oversight, or assumes responsibility when applicable, of all program management of MCDO facilities, construction, and improvements. Government Purchase Card holder for micro-purchases; orders and receives purchases, delivers supplies, contacts and coordinates purchases with vendors, and processes monthly billing statement online; ensures all non-expendable items are placed on property book and properly hand receipted.

  • This position may require travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
