About the Position:This position, Rivers and Harbors Construction Maintenance Foreman, is located in the U.S. Army Engineer District, Operations Division, Physical Support Branch, Revetment Section, Duty Station Memphis, TN. The position is responsible for the immediate execution of plans and operations for the accomplishment of functions involved in bank grading, clearing and snagging, and/or mat loading unit; serving as lead foreman on various labor projects.

Duties

Plan for the accomplishment of long-range assignments. Initiate and authorize administrative actions for work force directed. Organize crews or groups to accomplish jobs. Develops and implements plans for improving work performance of subordinates. Determines training needs of employees. Improve methods and operations. Interpret rules and regulations. Perform general personnel management functions. Ensure all district, state, local and OSHA laws and regulations pertaining to environment are followed.

Ability to perform common work operations with a team of trade workers and labor workers, such as direct the work of lower-grade employees operating heavy engineering and construction equipment. These duties are to accomplish functions involved in bank grading, clearing and snagging, and/or mattress loading. I can assist workers with general maintenance of minor repairs and major overhauls of floating plants and heavy mobile equipment; AND operate heavy mobile equipment, to include Cranes. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. The employee frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds or puts forth similar strenuous effort while standing, lying, or sitting, The employee often lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of others. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside on concrete floors and steel decks. Frequently subjected to grease, oil fumes, cuts bruises, strains, etc. Noise is frequently unpleasant. NOTE: Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.
