Duties

You will serve as an Education Program Specialist with responsibility for designing, developing, and overseeing the operations of the Student Success Program Branch. You will set performance standards to serve as a guide for monitoring performance and evaluating progress. You will formulate, employs, and implement a cohort-forecasting model including a demographic analysis that evaluates past. present and expected future population trends, outcomes and potential program retention and growth. You will lead the overall operation of student success efforts by providing strategic guidance, direction and through conveyance of overall vision, to the Deputy Director of Student Success. You will provide leadership in creating and advancing student continuation and progress towards credential strategies designed to meet the continuation, certificate attainment, and overall degree attainment goals of the USNCC. You will monitor and respond to email and other communications with current students, students who are swapping programs, as well as graduates, including but not limited to case from the USNCC support center.

Requirements

  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: -Experience with designing, developing, and overseeing the operations of a virtual Student Success Program. -Providing leadership in creating and advancing student continuation and progress to meet overall degree attainment goals for adult learners. -Leads data-driven initiatives designed to provide support and strategic planning for the oversight, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of institutional practices as they relate to student retention and success. -Implement processes and procedures that relate to course registration, participation, and completion of college-level courses. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

  1. Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience must reflect the level and kind described in C below.

    or

  3. Four years of experience that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles and practices underlying the work of this series. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university.

    or

  4. At least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience. This experience is defined as full and primary responsibility, under general supervision, for instruction of assigned students in an accredited school or institution. This includes responsibility for preparing and presenting lessons and for evaluating students' progress, including a determination of the students' success or failure according to established criteria. Serving in an assistant capacity to a professor without the authority to determine the students' success or failure to meet course requirements does not meet this criterion.
