You will serve as a Supervisory Education Specialist in the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Marine Corps University of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.
Duties
You will develop and deliver object-based, museum educational programs focusing on Marine Corps history for K 12 students, educators, youth groups, families, adult learners, and active-duty military.
You will use a variety of current technologies and systems to deliver history to audiences both in formal and informal learning environments
You will stay current on evolving educational technologies and presentation systems.
You will design, write, deliver, and evaluate grade and age-appropriate curriculum that meet the Commonwealth of Virginia Standards of Learning and are compliant with accreditation standards
You will use program evaluation methodologies to assess effectiveness of educational programs.
You will work with curators, historians, educators, and other subject matter experts in the research and interpretation of historical information to design unique object-based educational programs.
You will work with the public, other educators and museum volunteers to create and maintain an informative museum learning environment
You will form partnerships for regional and national educational programs that focus on Marine Corps history.
You will develop and adhere to a strategic plan and education budget.
You will provide employee guidance and counsel, prepare performance-based objectives and feedback.
You will recruit and select qualified employees, interns, and special assistants.
You will serve as a subject matter expert and maintain position descriptions, performance plans, personnel actions, award nominations, training, plans, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following duties: 1.) Leading and managing an education and interdisciplinary team in a museum environment to include mentoring and developing education staff ; 2. ) Effectively evaluating staff performance; 3.) Planning and managing a budget; 4.) Soliciting and interpreting information from historians, educators, and other subject matter experts; and 5.) Designing, writing, delivering, and evaluating grade appropriate curriculum.

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess Basic Requirements -
- Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses.

- Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience must reflect the level and kind described in C below.
or
- Four years of experience that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles and practices underlying the work of this series. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university.

- At least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience. This experience is defined as full and primary responsibility, under general supervision, for instruction of assigned students in an accredited school or institution. This includes responsibility for preparing and presenting lessons and for evaluating students' progress, including a determination of the students' success or failure according to established criteria. Serving in an assistant capacity to a professor without the authority to determine the students' success or failure to meet course requirements does not meet this criterion.
