You will serve as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/ NETWORK) in the Information Technology Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

YOU WILL BE REPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTERING THE INSTALLATION, TESTING, OPERATION, TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE OF HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SYSTEMS. You will perform a variety of functions on a wide range of IM/IT issues and provides advice and recommendations. You will prepare and present reports and plans and coordinates projects to meet future needs. You will troubleshoot networks, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.

Requirements

  • Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2.
  • A minimum of 20 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan (IDP) signed by both the employee and supervisor.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-11- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience in identifying systemic security issues based on the analysis of vulnerability and configuration data. 2) Knowledge of cryptography management concepts, data backup, recovery concepts and tools. 3) Evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology (IT) security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures. Note: This information must be supported in your Resume to be considered for this position. AND your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. GS-09 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-008 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Education

This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

The following education level may be substituted for specialized experience but must be in one of the above fields:

1. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

2. 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
