About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, Chief of Staff, GFIM Division, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Serve as a Data Scientist with skills in big data storage and processing, building data pipelines, and overseeing extract, transform, and load (ETL). Creating or developing the data architecture with analysis based on sound data and knowledge of information systems and design. Analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights to the organizations to streamline processes. Align data architecture with organizational business requirements.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Education Requirement: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, applicants must meet specialized experience requirements: One year of specialized experience which includes: analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights for the organizations to streamline processes; apply data scienceand novel machine learning techniques and algorithms; manage complex data sets and performing extensive analysis of volumes of data sufficient to design and deliver frameworks to facilitate data development lifecycle and design; disseminate findings through published technical reports, papers, and presentations at meeting and conferences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailData EngineeringData PipelinesPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
