About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, Chief of Staff, GFIM Division, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Serve as a Data Scientist with skills in big data storage and processing, building data pipelines, and overseeing extract, transform, and load (ETL). Creating or developing the data architecture with analysis based on sound data and knowledge of information systems and design. Analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights to the organizations to streamline processes. Align data architecture with organizational business requirements.

Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, applicants must meet specialized experience requirements: One year of specialized experience which includes: analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights for the organizations to streamline processes; apply data scienceand novel machine learning techniques and algorithms; manage complex data sets and performing extensive analysis of volumes of data sufficient to design and deliver frameworks to facilitate data development lifecycle and design; disseminate findings through published technical reports, papers, and presentations at meeting and conferences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12).
