You will serve as an Electrician in the Facility & Infrastructure Management Department, Facility & Plant Maintenance Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will construct, maintain, install, modify and repair various electrical wiring systems, electrical controls, electrically operated equipment and instruments and light and heavy electrical machinery. You will install raceways, supports, electrical wiring, switches, outlets, fuse boxes, meters, indicating or recording instruments, light fixtures, electric motors and appliances. You will test and repair electrical equipment and appliances. You will install, maintain and repair electric motors, wiring and various manual and automatic controls of electric cranes, furnaces, and other electrical machinery.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies from the screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1)Reading and interpreting sketches, blueprints, schematics, and other engineering specifications pertaining to complex electrical systems; 2) Constructing, maintaining, modifying and repairing electric power and lighting systems and all associated circuits; 3) Useable knowledge of ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, phase rotation meters, industrial analyzers, Wheatstone bridges, and recording ammeters; 4) Installing raceways, supports, electrical wiring, switches, outlets, fuse boxes, meters, indicating or recording instruments, light fixtures, electric motors and appliances.
