You will serve as an Electrician Leader in the Facility and Infrastructure Management Department, Faculty and Plant Maintenance Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will interpret and pass on instructions from supervisors to the employees assigned to you and plan the workload accordingly. You will demonstrate proper work methods and answer questions on procedures, policies and instructions. You will monitor, review and spot check work in progress and upon completion to ensure requirements have been met. You will ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed stringently. You will keep the supervisor informed on the status and progress of work and any causes for delay and on personnel matters.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Must obtain and maintain a man lift and fork lift license.
  • Must be able obtain and maintain a driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including; 1) Read and interpret sketches, blueprints, schematics, and other engineering specifications pertaining to complex electrical systems; 2) Knowledge of ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, phase rotation meters, industrial analyzers, Wheatstone bridges and recording ammeters; 3) Must be able to construct, maintain, install, modify and repair electric power and lighting systems and all associated circuits; 4) Install raceways, supports, electrical wiring, switches, outlets, fuse boxes, meters, indicating or recording instruments, light fixtures, electric motors and appliances. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including; 1) Ability to read and interpret sketches, blueprints, schematics, and other engineering specifications pertaining to complex electrical systems; 2) Useable knowledge of ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, phase rotation meters, industrial analyzers, Wheatstone bridges and recording ammeters; 3) Ability to construct, maintain, install, modify and repair electric power and lighting systems and all associated circuits; 4) Able to install raceways, supports, electrical wiring, switches, outlets, fuse boxes, meters, indicating or recording instruments, light fixtures, electric motors and appliances. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Ability to read and interpret sketches, blueprints, schematics, and other engineering specifications pertaining to complex electrical systems; 2) Useable knowledge of ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, phase rotation meters, industrial analyzers, Wheatstone bridges and recording ammeters; 3) Assist with constructing, maintaining, installing, modifying and repairing electric power and lighting systems and all associated circuits; 4) Follow instructions to Install raceways, supports, electrical wiring, switches, outlets, fuse boxes, meters, indicating or recording instruments, light fixtures, electric motors and appliances. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
