Duties
This position will serve as a Motor Unit Officer under the direction of the
Operational Services Bureau (OSB), providing Police Motor Unit Services,
motorcades and escorts, high visibility directed patrol, traffic safety
initiatives and enforcement programs, ceremonial functions, and support services
for the U.S. Congress, U.S. Capitol Grounds, and all areas and responsibilities
directed by the United States Capitol Police.
Qualifications
1.
Must be a USCP Officer below the rank of Sergeant; have successfully completed
your probationary period; and attained the rank of Private with Training by the
closing date of this announcement. 2. Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection. 3. Must be in a full and unrestricted duty status to attend, participate, and
successfully complete all required training courses related to this position as
of the date of selection. 4. Must be available to work flexible hours, rotating shifts and possible
midnight assignments.5.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with Motorcycle Endorsement
by the closing date of this announcement. 6. Must not have received any 535 or 534
warnings, or courtesy complaints within the past 365 calendar days from the posting
of this announcement.7.

additional hours on short notice.RETENTION CRITERIA1. Successfully complete SOD Field Training Program; Motor Officer Field
Training Program; Basic FLHTP Motor School; Basic Traffic Crash Investigation; and the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) School.2. Satisfactorily complete a one-year probationary period beginning on the
date of completion of the Motor FTO Program.3. After showing a high level of
proficiency operating the FLHTP Motorcycle, officers will be required to attend
a Police Motorcycle Instructor School to further benefit the Department’s
needs.4. Officers will be required to
successfully pass quarterly in service training and uniform
& equipment inspections.
Education
There is no education substitution for experience in this series and/or grade.
