About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.
Duties
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on the operation/employment of the AH-64 attack helicopter.
Maintain individual training records to evaluate individual performance of specific task performance in accordance with the Operations Manual, Checklist Flight Guides and the AH64E Aircrew Training Module.
Conducts remedial instruction, refresher training, and individual counseling when required.
Use the AH64E Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) to guide and conduct graduate and undergraduate level flight training in the operation and employment of the AH64E Attach Helicopter.
Performs both pilot and copilot gunner instruction duties from the Instructor Operator Station (IOS). Provides air traffic control (ATC) procedures during instrument training.
Represents the brigade, battalion, or company at specified training or equipment conferences both on and off post.
Prepares for training periods by reviewing aircrew training manuals (ATM), flight training guides (FTG) and other course related materials.
Instructs system and related subjects as they pertain to crewmember operational procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Instructor Training Certification, Common Faculty Development per TRADOC regulation 350-70 within 6 months of employment and recertify every 5 years.

Specialized Experience:
ne year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation. Supervising or administering a training program in AH-64/E helicopter rotary wing operations and aircraft systems. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations, and evaluation of flight students in rotary wing flight procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education:
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Aeronautical Science. Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
