About the Position: Serves as the liaison between the employing organization and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) under the technical supervision and guidance of the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s) (normally the unit Trial Counsel or the NCOIC of Military Justice).
Duties
Provide administrative support in the examination, initiation, and completion of legal actions and documents for review by the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s).
Assist commanders at all levels and their personnel with all matters relating to the administration of military justice, including but not limited to, administrative separations per AR-635-200 and AR 600-8-24.
Initiate and process forms required for Soldiers reported as absent without leave (AWOL) and dropped from rolls (DFR) and prepares and processes to completion other legal documents.
Prepare draft appointment orders detailing officers to conduct AR 15-6 investigations, administrative separation boards, and Article 32 hearings for review and coordinates with the appropriate attorney to schedule their briefings and legal reviews.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing legal administrative duties such as, reviewing legal documents, retrieving, and assembling information for hearings and/or trials, researching a variety of legal sources to obtain and/or verify information, preparing legal documents in accordance with regulations and laws, and utilizing automated software to produce legal related reports and documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Law or Legal Studies.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
