About the Position: The position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Office of the Commander MCOE SJA Legal Asst. Division Fort Moore, Georgia, 31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.
Duties
Provide legal and administrative assistance to legal assistance attorney, who provide legal services to active duty and retired members.
Conduct interview of clients and reviews documents to determine facts and issues, conducts legal research and coordination, and makes recommendations too staff attorneys.
Determine client eligibility for legal services and appropriateness of legal matter for referral to attorneys within the legal assistance branch.
Maintains correct logs and appointment dockets for attorneys.
Operates a word processor to prepare a variety of narrative and tabular material (e.g., correspondence, reports, technical papers, charts, statistical tables, manuals, travel orders, messages, and other documents).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support to attorneys through client intake and interviews, determining eligibility for appropriate legal services; understanding and interpreting civil law and utilizing automated systems to track cases, prepare legal documents and manage scheduled. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Law or Legal Studies.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
