As a Staff Assistant, you will perform a variety of administrative and special assignments for the office related to various programs within Office of Acquisition Policy. Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Operations as designated and must exercise initiative and work independently in performing assigned duties. Location of position: GSA, OGP, Office of Acquisition Policy, Washington, DC We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

Assist with monitoring assignments tasked by the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) or Chief of Operations (COO) to subordinates to ensure timely progress, compliance with directions, fulfillment of objectives, etc. Assist with coordinating and tracking performance of mandatory training, recurring reports, data calls, annual employee certifications for Telework and IDPs, etc. Log in and assigns all incoming Congressional correspondence and inputs pertinent information into the GSA correspondence system. Coordinates response to incoming Freedom of Information Action (FOIA) requests; enters documents into FOIA system. Arrange and/or assists in arranging Onsite/Offsite team meetings, conferences, town halls, events, etc., assuring that adequate space is available, participants are notified, logistical concerns are met, and necessary documents/materials are provided. Responsible for all details involving travel arrangements required by Deputy CAO, as well as senior management team and visiting officials and staff, making necessary travel and hotel reservations, often coordinating the travel with other offices. Prepares travel authorizations, itineraries and vouchers for the office senior management team. Provides office staff with proper GSA guidance to make travel arrangements. Serve as Time Administrator (and back up for the Office of Governmentwide Policy); helps resolve time and leave application issues. Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for small purchases, i.e., business cards, subscriptions, membership associations, etc. Serve as the primary office point of contact, answers telephones, responds to email and mail correspondence, and receives visitors in a prompt and courteous manner, directing them to appropriate staff member(s) and providing oversight and discretion to those involving the Deputy CAO. This position has job functions that must be executed within specific geographic locations. The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee’s home) within the specified geographic area. If you are selected for this position, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 45 days. At that time, you may be eligible to request to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency’s telework policy.

  • Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date
  • Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable

Qualifications

For a brief video on creating a Federal resume, click here.  The GS-9 salary range starts at $68,405 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience assisting management in the varied administrative, clerical and technical work related to the operations of the office and related support functions. This experience must include tracking information, and records management; managing calendars and meeting schedules for supervisor and managerial staff; analyzing and making recommendations to improve administrative processes; and serving as time administrator and managing travel arrangements. OR have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such degree or a LLB or J.D. related to the position being filled; OR possess a combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
