This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
Review accident circumstances to verify information and identify preventive measures to avoid future accidents of that type.
Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals.
Provide advanced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technical guidance and oversight to HVAC Technicians.
Develop directives and policies consistent with the Commander's guidance and policies to ensure that mission requirements are met.
Determine how many assignments can be achieved concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
- Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes are required.
- This position requires incumbent to work an on-call work schedule to respond to after hours emergencies. This may include, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the Ability to Lead or Supervise common Maintenance Mechanic duties, such as assist with maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial heating and boiling plant systems. I can perform maintenance on industrial air conditioning systems, and secondary power distribution and utility hook-up systems associated with fixed industrial electrical power systems and sub-systems; and refer to diagrams, charts, and manuals to determine techniques and processes related to preventive maintenance repairs and component replacements. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Requires some standing on concrete floors, climbing ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and positions items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, where there is frequent exposure to severe heat, extreme cold, inclement weather of all kinds, and work is performed in dusty, dirty, greasy, and otherwise unsanitary environments. Subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises, burns, and electrical shock; also may be exposed to excessive noise from equipment, power tools, etc. Protective clothing and safety equipment must be worn when exposed to hazardous working conditions.
