Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Management Support Division, Security Branch in Sterling, VA. NOTE: This Vacancy is limited to the first 100 applications received and will close at midnight Eastern Time on the day this application limit is reached regardless of the closing date specified in this announcement. At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Advises the Branch Chief of management trends, newly enacted laws and regulations, legal precedents, government studies, or other matters that affect or potential affect improving personnel security programs as well as of activities across organizational lines that affect the branch's mission. 2. Coordinates and collaborates with staff to identify and implement improvements to the Bureau's security functions and services. 3. Conducts research and analysis, and studies existing security policies, requirements, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with rule regulations by collecting information to determine the validity and application of various types of data. 4. Creates and maintains comprehensive security program specific documentation (e.g., maintaining current internal Standard Operating Procedures, system enhancements, guidelines, manuals, brochures, FAQs, etc.) 5. Establishes and maintains relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that the Bureau's security activities fall within acceptable timeliness and accuracy standards. BSEE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Salary Range Information: GS-13: ($117,962 - $153,354) per annum. First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. This vacancy is also announced as BSEE-EECC-24-JB-161(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Utilizing a wide range of security concepts, principles and practices within security systems and administration in order to accomplish work assignments. 2) Identifying systematic deficiencies and gaps in policies as related to security procedures; AND 3) Expertise in policy planning and revisions related to security guidance and strategies.
