The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a youth program support assistant, performing various administrative, clerical, and other duties as assigned in support of the Youth Program. The incumbent provides assistance, advice and guidance to all front desk staff on Youth Center policies, procedures, and methods as they relate to front desk operations.
Duties
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization.
Assists the school age care program and other youth programs, activities, and special events.
Provides information about the organization, functions, activities and personnel.
Assists with the Youth Programs daily financial collection procedures, reporting requirements and deposits.

- Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
- Must complete additional training requirements to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, rescue breathing, and food handlers.
- Incumbent is subject to work an uncommon tour of duty to meet program requirements including nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
- Must satisfactorily complete a physical and keep current on all immunizations.
- This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094.
- A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
- Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures, and operations that require considerable experience and training in a Youth Programs atmosphere; skill to perform the full range of standard clerical and administrative assignments that arise in a typical youth center environment, and the ability to resolve recurring problems related to the functional area; knowledge of and skill in using personal computer, office automation software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office), tools, and techniques to support office operations; knowledge of basic internal controls and procedures related to cash handling and cash accounting; knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly; and knowledge of body of rules, procedures, and operations applicable to clerical assignments, such as preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail.

EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the substantive programs of the organization as they relate to administrative and clerical support functions.
Knowledge of clerical practices and office routines to coordinate the work of the office.
Ability to apply practical knowledge of youth program planning concepts, principles, and methodology; to include youth activities regulatory requirements, policies and practices.
Ability to manage financial and physical resources of youth programs and in effectively organizing and utilizing available resources within the program framework.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and maintain good working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, children and their parents.
Skill to use a variety of standard office automation software (e.g. Microsoft Office) to accomplish various office support functions; such as email, word processing, database input, spreadsheets, graphics, reports, etc.; including ability to use agency unique software programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
