About the Position: Fort Bliss supports over 30,000 troops. It is the home of the 1st Armored Division, FORSCOM deployable units, and has a full scope of base support elements. Ft Bliss plays a vital role in America's largest city on a U.S. International Border, El Paso, Texas. El Paso's climate is dry/sunny with mild winters and warm summers. Duties

Analyze a variety of projected situations involved in mission support actions and personnel/organizational structures. Coordinate efforts for post-wide actions and/or events to ensure resources are utilized properly. Prepare detailed written reports on status of actions and/or utilizing the database to retrieve requested data. Compile narrative and/or statistical material on status of tasks for use in briefings for the organization. Make decisions within the scope of assigned duties and responsibilities with minimal oversight. Serve as primary point of contact for current operations to both higher Headquarters and subordinate units. Maintain internal HQs staff actions and operations to include conducting the weekly Staff Synch and Calendar Review.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 5 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
  • Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Disseminating staff actions to appropriate staff elements for completion, monitoring multiple and concurrent staff actions, and providing guidance or instructions to staff elements pertaining to assigned actions. 2) Experience working/interacting with Major Commands (MACOMs) and Component Commands (COCOMs). 3) Experience writing and reviewing division or above level Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes InformationOral CommunicationStrategic ThinkingWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
