About the position: This position will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office at Minot AFB.
This is a Regular Part Time position, and you are guaranteed minimum 20 hours a week.
Regular Employees are eligible to use the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, clubs, and swimming pool. Medical/dental/retirement/sick/vacation/401K benefits are available to Regular employees.

Duties
Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Classifies and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure their mathematical correctness, completeness of information, and to prepare General Ledger Accounting Form (GLAF) with appropriate accounting codes. Maintains double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers, posting entries to establish accounts. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents. Establishes an internal quality review system to ensure prompt identification of discrepancies among accounts, making necessary adjustments according to regulatory guidance.
Central Cashier for the squadron NAF banking requirements: Ensures proper identification before cash disbursements are made. Provides advice on how to properly document transaction to squadron personnel. Receives, counts, and balances all receipts turned in by activities, consolidates receipts, and disburses funds to replenish change funds. Maintains a control log, documents by NAFI/Activity each transaction, and prepares a consolidated daily report. Maintains proper amounts and denominations of cash to replenish change funds. Prepares bank deposits and ensures daily deposits are made in a timely manner. Accounts for funds by balancing with daily activity reports before transporting funds for deposit. Schedules activity deposit times and ensure all activities are depositing funds according to schedules/daily and notifies supervisor of any irregularities. Accountable for safeguarding large quantities of cash negotiable instruments. Applies AF Instructions, regulations, and internal operating instructions to cash management and accountability. Examines, verifies and analyzes documents. Accepts payments for the club card, recourse accounts and dishonored checks. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in work which provided comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting system encompassing a number of diversified activities; ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledgeable and understanding of the regulations, guides and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledgeable of the accounting system sufficient to flow individual fund and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the system. Knowledge of double entry accounting systems to properly classify a post transaction to general ledger and subsidiary accounts. Knowledge of banking procedures required to prepare deposits to submit to bank.
Must possess skill in using ten key calculators. Must possess experience which provides knowledge of cash handling procedures and sales operations such as: receipt, disbursements, examination, deposit and use of cash accountability control methods. Must be able to satisfactory complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
