These positions are located in Region III, in the Division of Operating Reactor Safety, one in Engineering Branch 2 and one in the Engineering and Reactor Projects Branch.  The supervisors are Jasmine Gilliam and Nestor Feliz Adorno respectively.  These positions are in the Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208.  Selectees will be subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements.

Duties

Leads teams in inspecting and evaluating the effectiveness of a wide variety of licensee engineering programs, processes, and support activities for reactor facilities in such areas as design verification, plant modifications, equipment qualification, and equipment maintenance, performance, and testing. Other inspection responsibilities may include (EB2) electrical engineering and/or instrumentation and controls (I&C), fire protection, and cyber security; (ERPB) in-service inspection, structural and material integrity, aging management, and license renewal.

Qualifications

Candidates may meet the basic qualifications required by having at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the occupational series listed above or in another series performing like or similar duties and possessing a knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices in a field of engineering, physical science, or related technical discipline as evidenced by a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as demonstrating knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of nuclear engineering or other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, or structural as applied to the degree in engineering or experience that has been or would be eligible for certification as equivalent through professional registration procedures.

Education

To qualify for these positions, you must meet basic education and professional knowledge requirements that apply to Federal engineering positions at all grade levels, in addition to the specialized experience requirements.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Regardless of the grade level of the vacancy, candidates for Federal Government professional engineering positions must meet certain basic professional knowledge requirements. Generally the knowledge requirements are met by having a bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant professional engineering discipline (e.g., nuclear, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, structural, chemical) from a school of engineering with at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). However, if you do not possess such a professional engineering degree, you may still satisfy the professional knowledge requirements if you have current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in one of the relevant disciplines from any U.S. State or Territory; or if you successfully passed an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) written examination administered by a State Board of Engineering Examiners; or if you have either a related professional degree or at least 60 semester hours of specified engineering-related college courses combined with at least a year of professional engineering work experience performed under professional engineer supervision and guidance.

Manual Chapter 1245 full qualifications is required.
