About the Position: This position is located at Irwin Army Community Hospital, Fort Riley, Kansas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilized to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Routinely review information updates from Joint Commission (JC) and other regulatory agencies, professional journals, societies, and applicable software. Develop and implement tools that measure the hospital's compliance to the standards and resolve noncompliance issues. Analyze clinical and service trend data. Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures for identification, collection, and analysis of performance improvement data. Coordinate with the hospital's Education and Professional Development personnel to disseminate information and implement educational classes covering JC standards for all hospital staff. Work with managers to ensure JC compliance in each department and division. Serve as the hospital's liaison to JC officials and other regulatory agency administrators.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating or analyzing clinical data for compliance with state and federal standards; developing or implementing systems, policies, or procedures to improve performance standards within a healthcare facility; and coordinating with clinic/hospital administrators or department managers to ensure compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
