This position is located in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Press and Public Diplomacy (NEA/PPD). PPD is responsible for public affairs, foreign press, public diplomacy, Bureau and Mission strategic and performance planning. The incumbent is responsible for analyzing the goals and priorities of the U.S. government, Department, and the Bureau relating to foreign policy objectives in the Middle East and North Africa and designs public outreach strategies to achieve those goals.
Duties
Plans and develops effective public communications strategies to explain U.S. policy to domestic audiences.
Monitors media activity (e.g., wire reports, articles, social media) and evolving trends in audience attitudes and perceptions, gathers and evaluates information on the impact of communication and engagement efforts.
Plans and implements outreach programs to explain U.S. policy to domestic audiences, ensuring that outreach plans and strategies are aligned with the Bureau mission.
Leads efforts to develop, collect, and analyze metrics related to outreach initiatives and events to measure the success of the outreach programs.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience organizing public affairs outreach campaigns and events to explain U.S. foreign policy related to the Middle East and North Africa to domestic audiences.
Experience monitoring traditional and social media coverage and international developments to craft tailored messages to target audiences in the Middle East and North Africa.
Experience drafting speeches, talking points, remarks, and briefing materials for Senior officials.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
