This position is in the Air Traffic Organization; Program Management Organization; Enterprise Services Directorate; Communications, Information, & Network Programs (CINP) Group., Candidates selected under this job announcement may be realigned to the Telecommunications Integrated Services directorate responsible for modernization of the telecommunications infrastructure supporting services in the National Airspace System (NAS).

Duties

The Telecommunications Specialist will be responsible for the deployment of all National Airspace (NAS) Operational network projects within their assigned service area and will cross multiple programs and contract vehicles. Primary areas of focus will be the delivery of services on FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI), Remote Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement (RTIR) program, and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology to Internet Protocol (IP) program and the FTI to FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) transition.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-I or FG/GS-13) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.SPECIALIZE EXPERIENCE is defined as:Experience analyzing and evaluating telecommunication engineering or functional requirements of the Telecommunications Infrastructure and associated communications systems. ANDExperience with a variety of telecommunications applications ranging from Internet Protocol (IP)/Voice Over IP (VOIP) networks, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology, fiber optics, cellular, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), software defined networking (SD-WAN/SDN), microwave technology, telephone systems and/or Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) systemsYou should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
