About the Position: ssues instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and relies on the incumbent to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group.
Duties
Responsible for leading, the efforts of approximately 20 employees performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for Crane Army Ammunition Activity.
The highest level of nonsupervisory work led is at the WG-11 General Equipment Mechanic, Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic, and Electricians.
Duties include the ability to use PLC software in order to take the lead in troubleshooting and make repairs to equipment.
Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and assigns work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for work quality, sequence, procedures, compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequences, procedures, methods and deadlines.
If work is interrupted for any reason, ie. lack of parts, Tech on leave, or reassigned to higher priority job, it is the leaders responsibility to report the interruption to supervisor and assure work will be restarted and completed.
Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods.
Develops quality assurance plans and procedures; analyzing progress, quality and customer complaints to identify areas of inadequacy.
Works along with other workers, setting the pace.
Insures that needed plans, blueprints material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Must possess and maintain base driving privileges. Installation driving privileges are automatically granted unless suspended or revoked.
- Must be able to be respirator certified without restrictions.
- May require heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) License.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Aerial Platform License.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and here the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy Is sometimes required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. Is frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. Occasionally is exposed to the possibility of broken bones. When working in munitions manufacturing areas, employee is subjected to the possibility of hazards from toxic chemical and explosives items. When working at incinerator complex, employee is in close proximity to hazardous waste.
